Prepared and Ready to Cook!
Do you ever have that panic moment when you have company coming and not know what to fix? What about when that company has food allergies or intolerance? Well, I am here to tell you just what to have in your pantry for times like this. Just a few ingredients and you will be set to make some fabulous Gluten Free food. The ingredients in my list, are also helpful if you are new to the Gluten & Dairy Free world and need a quick jump start!
When thinking about cooking for people with food related issues, it is important to ask how serious their allergy is. For instance, if the person is allergic to Gluten and nuts, you wouldn’t want to buy almond flour to make cookies. You want to try and stick with basic ingredients that is free from all basic allergies. Also, ask if cross contamination is a problem and if so, you will want to thoroughly clean any surfaces or equipment that has been in contact with Gluten foods with a good cleaner before preparing any Gluten Free foods. This seems like a scary thing, but with proper cleaning of surfaces it can be smooth sailing and you will create some wonderful memories, learn something new, and your company will really appreciate the time you took to help them.
Ingredients that Work
One of my favorite things to do is recreate foods with Gluten Free flour and see if anyone notices. I have experimented with a few ingredients and these are the ones I recommend for an easy cooking experience: Bob’s Redmill Gluten Free 1 to 1 flour, Hershey’s cocoa, Pillsbury Gluten Free flour, Xanthan gum, Krusteaz Yellow cake mix, butter flavored Crisco, Corn Starch, Enjoy Life Mini Chips, Earth Balance sticks, and Heartland Gluten Free Spaghetti pasta. This may seem like a lot, but the recipes are endless with this list of ingredients. You can make breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert with these few items. I will help you to not stress and together, we can do it!! Continue to follow my Blog and I will show you how with some yummy recipes. Happy Cooking!
