Protein Mocha Latte (Dairy Free)
I have tried for the last few weeks to come up with a way to make an afternoon snack and pick-me up that is different and out of the ordinary. I feel myself wanting something sweet in the afternoon and if I am not careful, that “something sweet” ends up with me making a cake or cookies! I might be the only one that struggles with this afternoon craving, but I had to do something.
My kids LOVE my Dairy Free Hot Chocolate, but my favorite treat is a Mocha Latte. I know Starbucks is not the healthiest or cheapest treat, but every once in a while I enjoy it. That got me to thinking. What could I make at home that could give me that flavor, but be healthy and curb my sweet tooth, all at the same time?? As I was drinking my chocolate protein shake, it just hit me! Why not make a hot chocolate with my protein powder and add in some coffee. Would it work? How would this taste? Well, I am happy to tell you, it was AMAZING!!
Protein Mocha Latte
Equipment
- Microwave
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup strong coffee
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 cup coconut milk (any milk will work)
- 1 tsp Enjoy Life mini chocolate chips
- 1 Tbsp Arbonne Chocolate Protein Powder
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp MCT powder (the powder I used has a milk agent in it. If you have to have dairy free, look for one without)
- 1/4 tsp pure vanilla
- a sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt (I say a sprinkle because it doesn't take much!)
Instructions
- Put all dry ingredients in a coffee mug and mix together; set aside. Next, put coffee and water in a microwave safe item, such as a glass measuring cup. Heat this liquid until it boils and then pour over the dry ingredients in the mug. With a spoon, stir the mixture until all the chocolate chips and protein powder dissolves. (It is important to make sure you boil your liquid so the protein powder has a chance to dissolve or it will be gritty.) Now, add in the vanilla and milk. Stir and put in the microwave to heat up the milk to the desired temperature. Take out and stir one more time. Enjoy!
