Pure and Simple Ways to use Baking Soda

Baking Soda has been a staple item in homes for many years. I always keep it in my pantry because it has so many uses. I love it because it is a simple and natural product that can be used to clean with; instead of using harsh chemicals. Have you ever looked up all the uses for baking soda? I have had a book for many years that has over 100 useful tips using Baking Soda. There are some I’m sure are familiar and a ton you have never heard of. The possibilities are really endless with this awesome product. I am going to share a few tips today that will benefit your daily cleaning and cooking.

Tips & Tricks

  • Renew old sponges, nylon scrubbers, and scrub brushes by soaking them overnight in a solution of 4 Tbsp baking soda to 1 quart water.
  • Cover burned on stains on a cookie sheet by covering in baking soda, hot water, and let it soak for 10 minutes. Next, use more baking soda and scrub with a scrubber or brush. The stain should come right off.
  • Sprinkle baking soda into clean socks before wearing to prevent odor and moisture.
  • Remove crayon marks on clothing by sprinkling baking soda on a damp rag and gently rubbing the stained area.
  • Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener.
  • Add 1 tsp. baking soda to the water when cooking rice. It helps with fluffiness.
